Our Counselors:

Jeffrey Zacharias, ACSW, LCSW, CSAT, CAADC

Jeff Zacharias is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CAADC) with years of clinical experience in both the mental health and addictions field. Jeff received his Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and BA in Business Administration from Georgetown College.

Jeff draws on psychodynamic theory with a strength based and solution focused perspective. He primarily utlizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which examines challenging thought processes or situations an individual might be having and then develops alternate viewpoints.  Jeff also focuses on Mindfulness as a therapeutic tool and has training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Jeff understands that not all styles work for every individual so he works in tandem with his clients to find what works best for each one. Jeff also has a private practice located in Lincoln Square.  Prior to New Hope, Jeff had clinical positions at The Center on Halsted, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago Lakeshore Hospital and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois. Jeff can be reached at [email protected] or 773-883-3912.

 

Greg Cox, LCSW, CADC, PCGC

Greg Cox is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Certified Problem and Compulsive Gambling Counselor. He obtained his Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago. His focus for working with clients includes addiction-related treatment, LGBTQ-related issues, codependency, life transitions, compulsive attachment issues, grief/loss, shame-based trauma, emerging adult stressors, relationships, and mood disorders.

The goal of therapy is to promote wellness and self-discovery. Greg provides a compassionate and affirming space for you to have the freedom to express yourself and get to know yourself on a deeper level. Some learned behaviors and ways of dealing with challenges no longer suit us in life, therefore, Greg will help you gain insight to identify patterns as well as empower change when needed.

Greg is trained to support people at any step of the addiction-recovery journey. So whether you are considering making changes for the first time or looking to maintain long-term recovery, Greg will help you cultivate opportunities for personal growth. Similarly, Greg has extensive experience helping loved ones of those impacted by addiction find their own relief and set healthy boundaries.

The LGBTQ community faces a unique set of stressors which can translate to disruptions in daily living. Greg takes the time to affirm your lived experience and begin to effectively explore the impacts related to guilt/shame, coming out experiences, family issues, minority stress, internalized homophobia, sexual identity, gender identity, and relationships. Meredith McQuiston, LSW, CADC, RYT

Meredith McQuiston is a licensed social worker, Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor and a certified yoga instructor since 2010. Meredith received her Masters from Loyola University Chicago, School of Social Work. Prior to moving to Chicago, Meredith earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas. In Texas, her experience included rape crisis interventions, supervised parental visitation for children, and acting as an advocate for victims of intimate partner assault cases with the Dallas County District Attorney.

Meredith focuses on addiction treatment, trauma-responsive care, and shame resilience and brings aspects of mindfulness and body integration into her treatment. Meredith also provides feminist-oriented therapy. Meredith has experience in a variety of substance use treatments including outpatient care, medication assisted treatment, detox, and inpatient. Meredith’s passion for social justice is evidenced through her commitment to providing trauma-specific services and advocacy for vulnerable communities.?
