We hear it so often we usually forget - when we feel afraid or anxious, we need to take a deep breath.  Our bodies were designed to shut down our breathing when we feel fear.  It is an automatic response.  If we remember to override this response and take deep breaths, what we fear can instead seem like an adventure!
